We ship a small applicator bottle with each order to facilitate mixing
SP3 with high grade oil to use as a preservative. A good starting point is 1:10 ratio.
When you buy the pump
can you have many more options:
1. After breaking loose your stuck
project or cleaning your gun etc. you can open the lid on the SP3 pump
and add a small quantity of a high grade oil and use the
resulting mixture as a preservative. The oil will follow the penetrant
and provide protection for your part. We do not add the oil originally
because that slows down the penetrating action.
2. If you chose to, you can pour a small amount of SP3 into a needle
nose bottle or into a small container to work
on small projects.
DO NOT DROP THE PUMP CAN ON THE SHOP FLOOR!! The neck will break off.

To
Eliminate Rust - Spray and Wait.
Remove rust with a brush or scratch
pad.
Wipe clean and paint if needed.
No need to remove the SP3
Penetrating Oil before painting, just wipe down with a dry rag.
To Free
Frozen Parts - Spray and wait. The capillary action of SP3
Penetrating Oil will allow it to creep into the space and free the
part. Have a little patience and only use a little SP3.
To Unstick
Stuck Engines - Remove all sparkplugs, or injectors on a diesel, use
a suck nozzle through sparkplug hole to remove any standing water from
cylinder.
Spray a 2-3 second burst of SP3 Penetrating Oil into the
cylinder and into the intake manifold of the engine.
Let sit 24 hours.
Put transmission in gear. Attempt to rock the car/truck back and forth.
OR put a fresh hot battery in and bump starter several times.
If this
fails to free it repeat the whole procedure.
If it took years to get
into this shape, it may take a day or two to get it free. If all
efforts fail, call us!
DO NOT MIX SP3 WITH ANY OTHER PENETRANT, IT WILL
ONLY SLOW DOWN THE PROCESS!!

appreciate your interest.There are some exotic(expensive) strain &
torque gauges available.The simple method for creating an "equal"test
group of fasteners is to......obtain a quantity of UNCOATED bolts &
nuts,soak an equal number in a salt bath for different exposure times
and solution strengths.The nuts should be on the bolts! This can also
be done with a corrosive bath,BE CAREFUL!! The torque method you are
contemplating will work,but a really simple test is to
...pour a
measured quantity of each product into a saucer or petri dish etc.then
stand the bolt/nut up in each solution.The first to migrate up THROUGH
the threads is going to be the best in most cases. Simple right?
As for
SP3 on dissimilar metals,we sell to a number of aircraft and marine
museums and restoration specialists that love the results.
All this
being said, no product is a silver bullet or magic wand. There are
still problems that only a torch,or machine shop will cure.
We hope
this helped. We worked closely with an industrial chemist for over a
year to come up with the SP3 product. We could have made a more
aggressive formula, but you couldn't buy it/use it without special
training and protective gear. Our goal was to provide a product that
was safe & effective for the real world.
One other plus is IT DOESN'T STINK or leave a nasty smell on your
hands. The fumes will not run you
